Prayer for Cally

Tuesday 29 Jan 2013
Greetings in Christ,

This is a short email to ask you to please pray for Cally Kwok.  She is Jonathan's wife, who are our Taaiboer's team mates on Kho Phayam island in Thailand.

They are currently on their way to the Phuket hospital.  Cally says the boils are bursting and are extremely painful.

Jonathan Kwok (17 hours ago) on facebook
Cally’s numerous sandfly bites have developed into massive pus-oozing boils – 8 of them – on her legs and body, are very serious to the extent that she cannot walk and is in severe pain. Complicating matters is the fact that she’s allergic to most antibiotics. We may have to rush her back to Penang if her condition does not improve. We really appreciate your prayers. Thanks so much!

Please also pray with us:
Father we come to You in Jesus' name, our Rock and Redeemer. We bring the whole missionary team before You and ask You to touch every one of their bodies with healing power, wholeness and vitality, We pray for effective treatment for Cally as well as a long term solution to withstand the sand flies on the island.  We not only pray this for the team, but for everybody that lives and visits the island.  We ask that You redeem Philip, Jon, Cally as well as all their children's bodies from the different sicknesses in Jesus name, restoring to them excellent health and mental energy. We give You the glory for their lives and keeping them from evil, in Jesus name, amen.

Our Lord God bless you for your prayers!

Nood gebed vir Flip 3 Jan 2013

Just an update regarding our urgent prayer request for Philip

Glory be to God that Philip pulled through from the brink of two sicknesses - Dengue fever and severe flu!  Thank you for your prayers thus far but please continue to pray and intercede for Philip and his boys, as well as Jon and Cally and their two girls. Do read Jonathan Kwok's facebook update further down for more details.

Our brother's physical health has taken quite a bad knock leaving him weak, exhausted and with all sorts of other debilitating symptoms. He is unfortunately not out of the woods by far.  It is also very clear that not only Flip, but also Jon and his family, are under severe spiritual attack at this time.  In the process of serving the lost Moken tribe and the local Buddhist Thai with the kindness and sacrificial love of the One and Only who can bring true reconciliation with mankind's heavenly Father, our frontline workers are on foreign territory in more than one way.  Much has happened in the last year for God's Kingdom to advance and so the enemy is fighting back hard. The team even had to stand up against exploitation from within their own ranks.

Ephesians 6
12 For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.
13 Use every piece of God’s armor to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that you will be fully prepared. 16 In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan. 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 Pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all Christians everywhere.

Please also pray with us in unity:
Our heavenly Father, we thank and praise you for Your grace and mercy by saving Philip's life!
We thank you Lord that Flip and Jonathan is on Koh Phayam island because of Your love for the lost people there.
We thank you for the lives of our brothers and sisters all over the world who obeyed Your call to go to those sitting in darkness.
We ask Lord that You will stand up for our families, cover them with Your glorious provision, and raise the standard against the enemy's advances in all areas of their lives.
We ask this Lord because You alone are good and can reach across time and distance. You alone can turn what was meant for evil, into good.
Spirit of God, we ask that You strengthen and empower each one, as well as all the new converts and their loved ones, for Your Name sake.
Father, Your will alone be done and Your Kingdom come.
We bring our prayer to You who are alone worthy, in Jesus name,
Amen.

The Lord bless you for your faithfulness!

Dengue fever (UK /ˈdɛŋɡ/ or US /ˈdɛŋɡ/), also known as breakbone fever, is an infectious tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash that is similar to measles. In a small proportion of cases the disease develops into the life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever, resulting in bleeding, low levels of blood platelets and blood plasma leakage, or into dengue shock syndrome, where dangerously low blood pressure occurs.
Dengue is transmitted by several species of mosquito within the genus Aedes, principally A. aegypti. The virus has four different types; infection with one type usually gives lifelong immunity to that type, but only short-term immunity to the others. Subsequent infection with a different type increases the risk of severe complications. As there is no commercially available vaccine, prevention is sought by reducing the habitat and the number of mosquitoes and limiting exposure to bites.
Treatment of acute dengue is supportive, using either oral or intravenous rehydration for mild or moderate disease, and intravenous fluids and blood transfusion for more severe cases. The incidence of dengue fever has increased dramatically since the 1960s, with around 50–100 million people infected yearly. Early descriptions of the condition date from 1779, and its viral cause and the transmission were elucidated in the early 20th century. Dengue has become a global problem since the Second World War and is endemic in more than 110 countries. Apart from eliminating the mosquitoes, work is ongoing on a vaccine, as well as medication targeted directly at the virus.
