News - Nuus - September 2010

Oor jou bediening

Ja-nee kyk, hierdie keer is ek vir jou laat met my nuusbrief.

Eers was Elisma en Pieter daar by Deon-hulle.

Nogmaals baie dankie vir my stuur-sel.

About my service
Yip, this time I am very late with my newsletter – I’m sure you noticed that even though it is my September update, it is already nearly the end of October!  However, look out for my next letter that is nearly on its way :-)  In the meantime, I trust that you are very well indeed.

What a month September was!  Elisma, Pieter and Danie came to visit me, I traveled to Ranong and the islands again for a visit, and lastly, did I wake up in a fridge or what?

September was wonderful because of all the varied activities and visitors that came to Thailand.  While I was staying with Deon and his family in Bangkok, Elisma and Pieter came to visit us and did we social!  I must say that the city is not my favorite place and I tend to have an allergic reaction to it, but managed not to erupt into hives while walking the streets with them.  Not long after that, Danie also made his appearance in this gigantic city, which amplified our social to the point of having a South African braai.  We went to the beach together and jollied like only the boertjies now how to.  We had great fun!  But it wasn’t long after, that they had to depart and a ‘calmness’ befell us in Bangkok.

STAMP invited me to go to Ranong again and as always, it was unbelievably enjoyable.  I think because I know it will be my new home, makes it so much nicer.  I love the Moken children and thus I had a wonderful time with them on the Ko-Phayam island.  The difficult months of acquiring the Thai language, made it easy for me now to be accepted by the Thai people on the mainland, who have told me a lot of what is happening on the islands.  This time I could also learn a lot more about STAMP from Peter.  He was also here in SA and came to meet with my sending cell.

And then the long flight to South Africa at the end of September.  When I stepped off the plane it felt like I stepped into a fridge!  The air is so very dry and cold that my nose was burning and my lips cracked.  It just comes to show you how we have to adapt - when you come to visit me there is a change on your part and when I am here, I have to adapt.  But more about that later.

Another big thank you to my sending cell.  Everything was arranged and went so smoothly here in SA.  Thank you also for your continued love and support.
